JON BRODERICK

Jon Broderick of Cannon Beach, Oregon, is a high-school English and French teacher, and soccer coach, who heads up to Alaska with his four sons every summer to fish for salmon. He is the author of the chapbook, "Tossed in the Skiff at High Tide." He performs "fisherpoetrymusic" every chance he gets, and twice was invited to read at the National Cowboy Poetry Gathering in Elko, Nevada.

Broderick is a founder of the Fisher Poets Gathering in Astoria, Oregon.  The event, which celebrates its thirteenth year next February 26-28, attracts scores of poets and songwriters, artists and storytellers from the commercial fishing and maritime industries, representing every western state and province and beyond. Each year hundreds of fisherpoet fans crowd the several venues for performances downtown. The Fisher Poets Gathering has attracted national and international media attention, but best of all, it has served as a catalyst for a lot of new and terrific writing about commercial fishing culture.
